A kind of psychopomp wolf like creature, time hound, cwn annwn, or well. As she was called on her home world “Hound of Tindalos.” She was a protector and lone guardian of a prince, a necromancer and poet of an eldritch race of aliens from the distant Hyades star cluster. Sworn under oath to keep him safe. Before her assignment to him she was a spiritual hunter who’d ferry the dead into the next life. Lost souls who tried to hide- but there is no hiding from time hounds, they can find you anywhere. Time Hounds were very hard to kill. And with that, what better guard dog then one that can’t die.
When her and her lover found a new ‘home’ on a different world and different type of astral level. She became more tangible, which meant she could die. But that did not matter, to her at least. Her love for him was ethereal. No matter what happened; she was sure they’d be together. Forever.
With this new world came new dangers, and keeping Aubrey safe was above all else. He was a strong necromancer; and she was a stronger warrior. They were unstoppable. This new planet would surly be theirs. The dominate race of humanoids of that world were treating it poorly. Her lover, and the rest of the refugees would claim this dying world from the inhabitants that were killing it and make it their own. They’d save it and it would flourish and wonderful and perfect... But.. Something happened, and the humanoids got the upper hand. They created a weapon that could slay the eldritch invaders, and their guard dogs.
Talathia sacrificed herself so her lover could retreat, where she succumbed to her injuries and died.
Spoiler:
She was later reborn to a distant grandson of the human who slayed her. With no memory of her past. When she later finds a disguised Aubrey as a young adult. The two quickly fell in love. But due to an unforeseen misfortune, witch-hunts, and other trauma, an assassination was attempted on her new life. Aubrey did what he could to save his reincarnated lover.. But when he revived her back from the dead. The two personalities merged. Wild and feral and her memories of both lives broken into pieces. But loyal to a fault, and a strong warrior, even if easily triggered. |
re ramblings about Talathia, if you're bored enough. I'm still editing this to have it work with "Shimmer" so bare with me.
Talathia was 'created' in a sense, someone died- and she was who 'woke up' when the body was brought back to life, the person she originally was.. is buried beneath her somewhere. But something very traumatic happened, she was betrayed by the very person she trusted more than anyone else.. and her old self 'died'. From there, Talathia was brought 'back' or re-created from what remained of who she once used to be. After the betrayal and gruesome attack; her lover Aubrey found her barely clinging to life, left for dead and with his necromancy and medical skills, did whatever he could to save the life of the most precious person in his entire world.
Tala is now some kind of tangible wolf creature, although using the word "wolf" very loosely here. hodgepodge of wolf, like Aubrey's a hodgepodge of cat. She acts ethereal and a bit dog-like. With large bat-like ears, law bony claws at the end of her finger tips, a long weird snout like that of a wolf-- but off, somehow. Her tail is long and fluffy -and probably larger than any 'normal' wolf. Black spots are under her eyes, on her shoulders, and above the base of her tail- there may be some indication that there were freckles at one time. She has an athletic build, but kind of lanky, a bit feral.. there's something very 'off' about it. Her forearms and legs are covered in shaggy fur which is longer than everywhere else on her body. Aubrey's intent was to make her stronger than before, more than human- well not even human anymore. So she could better defend herself.
Around her neck is a tattered lavender/purple ribbon or scarf, or some kind of fabric-- it was used as her handfasting ribbon between Aubrey and her former self when they were married long ago. Aubrey tied it around her neck so she would remember.. and as a keepsake in hopes of keeping her calm. Perhaps there's a spell on it? Is it binding the time-hound to the body? Nobody knows. Her pants are usually a mess, and earth-colored. Covered in stains and patches. She wears bandages around her hands and feet, and never wears boots or shoes. Not that any would fit her anyway. She can - although not needed, use a lance or sword. But this all depends on the context. She's very good at using them and it perhaps gives an idea of who she used to be. (lance and sword aren't really designed, go wild. I don't care.)
When she woke up she had no memory of her life before, who she used to be... she was Talathia now. Aubrey claims he did it unknowingly, he did not know he had turned her 'into' someone else. Who he later named Talathia. Or perhaps.. It was his plan all along. Make her stronger, more than human. She wouldn't remember a thing from before- when she was reborn as a human. Talathia gets flashbacks of things that happened to her before Aubrey changed her. When this happens she goes into strange fits by clawing her head to forget the painful memories. Ridden with bouts of anxiety and cptsd.... Her bark is worse than her bite.
The wolf lady lives on an island. Aubrey's island where his laboratory is, where he performs his experiments and other creations. The island is her home, and she will do anything she can to keep it safe. To protect it. Aubrey doesn't worry about trespassers because Talathia will attack anyone who tresspessses before they even get in the interior of the island. It is her safe space, everything she could ever hope for. She considers herself a pirate - and this is the island that she protects. The sea, the waves, and all of it bring her so much comfort and safety. The black coat could be just her way of claiming to be a pirate with its naval patterns and markings, or captain of her own crew, a fishfag, a seawitch, seawoman, who knows.
I will state there is no wrong or right way to draw Talathia, she has a non-humanoid form, werewolf, and anthro form. All of them work- the story, her story, still works. She probably can shift between all three..? I guess the important points are- she is flat chested, feral and masculine looking but not 'male' and does not identify as a male/man. The pronouns "she/her" is more or less thrown around in relation to the ocean- we gender the ocean as female. Because she is a force that is untamable, strong, and enchanting. |
